How I Learned to Let My Brand Speak Before I Did — Lessons Every Woman Entrepreneur Needs

I  still remember the early days of my journey as a brand strategist  when every logo felt like a masterpiece and every caption seemed good enough to make a mark. But reality hit quickly. The truth was, many of those “beautiful” brands weren’t being noticed at all.

I’d see brilliant women entrepreneurs  hardworking, creative, full of purpose  struggling to stand out online. They were posting consistently, trying every trend, yet their audience didn’t seem to get what their brand truly stood for. That’s when I realized that brand visibility doesn’t start with marketing  it starts with meaning.

Your brand should speak for you before you ever say a word. It should carry your values, your emotions, and your story through every color, line, and sentence. That’s what makes people stop scrolling and feel something  even before they read your caption or click on your profile.So if you’ve been wondering why your business still feels invisible despite your efforts, this is where you begin, by building a brand identity that speaks before you do.

1. Begin With Purpose: What Do You Want People to Feel?

Every strong brand begins with emotion. Before choosing colors, fonts, or logos, pause and ask yourself, what do I want my audience to feel when they see my brand? Do you want them to feel calm, inspired, empowered, or energized?

If you’re a wellness coach, your audience should feel trust and peace. If you run a creative business, they should feel curiosity and excitement.Your purpose defines your emotion, and that emotion guides every design decision you make. A good exercise is to write down three words that capture your brand’s emotional tone  for example, “bold, confident, uplifting.” Use these words as your filter for every visual or messaging choice. When your brand’s feeling stays consistent, recognition becomes effortless.

2. Let Colors Tell Your Story

Here’s something I’ve learned from brand projects.  People don’t read your content first, they feel your color palette.Color psychology is one of the simplest, most overlooked tools to improve brand visibility. It shapes perception instantly, often before a single word is read. Choose two or three colors that reflect your emotional tone  and use them consistently. The more people see your colors, the faster they recognize your brand.

Here’s a quick color guide I often share with my clients:

• Blue — Calm, trust, and reliability. Great for wellness, finance, or coaching.

• Pink — Warmth, care, and approachability. Perfect for beauty or lifestyle brands.

• Yellow — Joy, optimism, and creativity. Ideal for creators and educators.

• Green — Growth, balance, and sustainability. Works well for wellness and eco-brands.

• Black — Strength, sophistication, and confidence. Perfect for luxury or design brands.

3. Speak in Your Real Voice, Avoid a Polished Script

Over the years, I’ve noticed one pattern that instantly kills connection  when brands try to sound “perfect.”Your brand voice should sound like you, not like what you think the internet expects. Whether your tone is friendly, bold, or nurturing, let it come through naturally.

Ask yourself:

• Do my captions sound like how I’d actually talk to a client or friend?

• Do my messages feel human or overly formal?

• Do my posts reflect my brand’s values and emotions?

For example:

• A confident mentor might say: “Your story deserves to be seen. Don’t play small.”

• A gentle wellness coach might say: “Take a deep breath. You’re already growing.”

Both are powerful, but they attract different audiences. Authenticity isn’t a trend, it’s a brand strategy. The more real you sound, the stronger your visibility becomes.

4. Write an ‘About’ That Connects, Not Just Describes

If your About section sounds like it was written by a robot, people will scroll past it in seconds.

Most bios say things like:

“Helping women grow their business and achieve success.”

But that line could belong to a thousand other brands. Instead, make it sound personal and specific to you.

Instead try this:

“I help women entrepreneurs turn ideas into visible, purpose-driven brands  by aligning their story, voice, and design.”

See the shift? It feels alive, human, and instantly gives clarity. 

5. Stay Consistent Even When It’s Quiet

I know how discouraging it can be when you’re posting regularly but not seeing results. But here’s the truth I’ve seen time and again: consistency builds brand memory, even when engagement doesn’t show it immediately.

 Keep showing up  even when it feels like nobody’s watching. That’s how visibility compounds. That’s how silent brands become memorable ones

Masa Awards 2024: Shining a Light on Excellence in MSMEs and Startups

Kolkata glittered with entrepreneurial spirit on January 28th, 2024, as the Masa Awards 2024 unfolded at the esteemed ICCR. Organized by the Mantras Foundation and Ideacade Digital Solutions, the event celebrated the remarkable achievements of individuals and businesses within the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and startup ecosystem.

Gracing the occasion were distinguished guests, including Padma Shri awardee Janab Kazi Masum Akhtar and Mr. TVs Shenoy, Director of Idearcade Pratayay Sur, Chief Commercial Officer of the Tata Group,  cyber guru Rajarshi Rai Choudhury . Their presence underscored the importance of recognizing and nurturing talent within the entrepreneurial community.

The night belonged to the awardees, a diverse group who have made their mark in various industries:

• Startups: Drivers4Me, Aqua Doctor Solutions, and Ashdhir Creations LLP were lauded for their innovative contributions, exemplifying the power of entrepreneurial spirit.

করোমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস দুর্ঘটনার বিভিষিকাময় রাত কাটিয়ে যারা ফিরলেন। কি হয়েছিল সেদিন রাতে?

গত চল্লিশ বছরের সবথেকে ভয়াবহ করোমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস  ট্রেন দুর্ঘটনার সাক্ষী থেকেছে গোটা দেশ। গত শক্রবার অর্থাৎ ২ জুন ২০২৩ দিনটি ইতিহাসের পাতায় কালা দিবস হিসেবেই গণ্য হবে। বলেশ্বরের করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস, যশোবন্তপুর এক্সপ্রেস ও মালগাড়িতে সংঘর্ষে ফলে গত তিনদিনের মৃত্যুর সংখ্যা ছাড়িয়েছে ৩০০। ৯০০ জনেরও বেশি আহত। তবে যারা ওই বিভিষিকাময় রাতে লাশের ওপর হেটে বেঁচে ফিরলেন তিনদিন কেটে গেলেও তাঁদের মুখে চোখে তখনও কাটেনি আতঙ্ক ও ভয়। চোখ বুজলেই যেন হাতছানি দিচ্ছে সেই ভয়ঙ্কর রাত, মানসিক ও দৈহিক আঘাত। 

স্থানীয়রা ছুটে এসেছিলেন উদ্ধার করতে। তবে সবকিছুরই দুটি দিক থাকে। একদিকে যেমন কিছু মানুষ দেশলাইয়ের বাক্সের মতো দুমড়ে মুচড়ে যাওয়া বগি থেকে তাদের উদ্ধার করেছেন। অন্যদিকে সেই গ্রামেরই কিচ্ছু মানুষ ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে থাকা বগি চুরি করতেই বেশি ব্যাস্ত ছিলেন বলে দাবি অনেক যাত্রীর। কি হয়েছিল সেদিন রাতে? প্রাণ হাতে নিয়ে ফিরে আসা যাত্রীরাই বর্ণনা দেন সেই অভিশপ্ত রাতের। 

পিকনিক গার্ডেনের  বাসিন্দা সায়ন্তনি ঘোষ তাঁর এগারো বছরের কন্যাকে নিয়ে  করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস এ১ কামরায় যাচ্ছিলেন। সন্ধ্যেবেলার লোয়ার সিটে বসেছিলেন তিনি। হঠাৎ এক বিকট শব্দ তার সঙ্গে মারাত্মক ঝাঁকুনি অনুভব করেছিলেন। তিনি বুঝতে পেরেছিলেন কামরাগুলি লাইনচ্যুত হয়েছে এবং সংঘর্ষের জেরে কাচের বাইরে আগুনের স্ফুলিঙ্গ দেখতে পেয়েছিলেন।   তিনি বলেছিলেন "সামনের কামরার বাথরুম আমাদের কামরায় ঢুকে পড়েছিল। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা ছুটে আসে উদ্ধারকাজে হাত লাগাতে কিন্তু তাদের আরও একটি রূপ ফুটে উঠেছিল তার অভিজ্ঞতায়। তিনি বলেছিলেন "সাহায্য করার জন্য ব্যগটি নিয়েছিলেন এক স্থানীয় ব্যক্তি কিন্তু আর ফেরৎ দিলেন না।   সামনের কামরা থেকে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের চুরি করতেও দেখলাম।এই ভয়ঙ্কর পরিস্থিতিতে আমি  মেয়েকে নিয়ে ওই দুমড়ানো কামরার মধ্যে থেকে এসে ২কিলোমিটার হেঁটে লাইনের অপরপ্রান্তে পৌঁছানোর পর আরও ভয়ঙ্কর বাস্তবের সঙ্গে  মুখোমুখি হলাম, দেখলাম আস্ত লোহার বগিগুলি কাগজের মত কুঁচকে গিয়েছে। চারিদিকে শুধুই আর্তচিৎকার। এই সব দেখে আমার সন্তান পাতার মতো কাঁপছে।  ও আমাকে একটা কথা বলল যে সবাইতো বেরিয়ে ছিলাম বাড়ি ফিরব বলে, কিন্তু তা তো সবার হলো না। আচ্ছা যদি  ওই কামড়াগুলিতে কোনো শিশু থাকে!  তার আঘাত লাগলে , যে ভাবে বগিগুলো দুমড়ে গেছে তাতে তো তাকে খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবেনা। আমি ওর মুখে এই কথা শুনে আরো ভেঙে পড়েছিলাম।" তিনি  চোট পেয়েও সন্তানকে নিয়ে ফিরে আসতে পেরেছে এই ভয়াবহ দুর্ঘটনা  থেকে তাই বারবার ভগবানকে ধন্যবাদ জানাচ্ছিলেন। 

 দাসপুরের সুজন মণ্ডল খড়গপুর থেকে উঠেছিলেন করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস। তিনি  দীনদয়াল কোচে উঠবেন ভেবেছিলেন কিন্তু শেষ মুহূর্তে মনস্থির করেন এস ফাইভে উঠবেন সেই ভাবনার জন্য বারবার তার ভাগ্যকে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়েছিলেন। তার কথায় "লুপ লাইনে করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেস ঢোকার কয়েক সেকেন্ড পরই চালক বুঝতে পারেন এবং এমার্জেন্সি ব্রেক কসেন তখন চারিদিক থেকে ধুলোবালিতে ভর্তি হয়ে যায় বিকট শব্দ হতে থাকে তার সঙ্গে আগুনের ফুলকি এবং ট্রেনের ভেতর পাওয়ার কাট হয়ে যায়। পাশের দেখি দরজার পাশে বসে থাকা ৫-৬ জন ছিটকে কোথায় চলে গেল খুঁজে পেলাম না,  ট্রলি ব্যাগ  আটকে যায় দরজায় আর বাথরুমের দরজার একটি অংশ শক্ত করে ধরেছিলাম সেই অবস্থায় ট্রেনটি তখনও যথেষ্ট জোরে ঝাঁকুনি দিচ্ছিল, ট্রলি ব্যাগটি যদি গেটে  না থাকতো আমিও   স্লিপ করে পড়ে যেতাম এবং চাপা পড়তাম ট্রেনের নিচে। এই ঘটনার কয়েক সেকেন্ড পর ধাতস্থ হলাম এবং তার আগেই আমি বুঝতে পেরেছিলেন কিছু একটা হয়েছে তবে তার তীব্রতা যে এতটা ভয়ংকর সেটা বুঝতে পারেনি।  এই সময় মোবাইলে ইমারজেন্সি মোড হয়ে গিয়েছিল।  নিচে নেমে এসে লাইট জেলে দেখি ঠিক আছি আমি,  সেখান থেকে লাইভ করার চেষ্টা করি সবাইকে জানানোর জন্য। কিন্তু লাইভটি শুরু করার কয়েক মিনিটের পর এই লাইভটি বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিলাম  কারণ আমি ওই ট্রেনেরই সহযাত্রী ছিলাম আমার সহযাত্রীদের এইরকম অবস্থা দেখুক আমি চাইনি।  ট্রেনের যত সামনের দিকে এগোচ্ছি তত মর্মান্তিক দৃশ্য দেখে আমার শরীর খারাপ করতে শুরু করেছিল। কারুর হাত কাটা গেছে তো কারুর ধর মুন্ডু আলাদা। কোথাও বা দোলা পাকিয়ে পড়ে রয়েছে দেহ। খুব ঘামতে শুরু করেছিলাম এবং হার্টবিট ফাস্ট হয়ে যাওয়ায় স্থানীয়রা আমাকে জলের বোতল প্রাথমিক সেবা যত্ন ও সান্তনা দিয়ে বর্তমান অবস্থায় ফিরিয়েছিলেন। আমি সুস্থ আছি বলে আমি আমার ব্যগটা নিয়ে চলে আসব সেটা করা উচিত নয়, আমিও করিনি সেটা, তারপর আমিও  স্থানীয়দের সাথে উদ্ধারের কাজেও হাত লাগিয়েছিলাম। দুর্ঘটনার আধঘন্টার মধ্যে ওডিআরএফ টিম  পৌঁছে গিয়েছিলেন। অনেকেই বলছে শুনছি স্থানীয়রা চুরি করেছে তবে আমার চোখে পড়েনি। উল্টে আমার চোখে স্থানীয়দের মানবিকতা ছবি ফুটে উঠেছে‌।১৮-২০ বছরের দুটি ছেলে হাইওয়ে পর্যন্ত আসার সময় অর্ধেক রাস্তা আমাকে ছেড়ে দিয়ে যায় এই কারণেই স্থানীয়দের কথা আমার অভিজ্ঞতায় বারবার উঠে আসবে। "

অনুভব দাস যিনি একজন জিওলজি ডিপার্টমেন্টের পিএইচডি রিসার্চ স্টুডেন্ট তিনি কটকে নিজের বাড়ি ফিরছিলেন। ছিলেন করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেসে । বিকট শব্দে ট্রেন থেমে যাওয়ার পর কোনরকম নিচে নেমে দেখেন এক্সপ্রেসের আরো কয়েকটি কোচ এদিক-ওদিক ছিটকে পড়ে আছে। তার কথায় " আমাদের কোচের কারো সেরকম কিছু হয়নি। আমরা দশ পনেরো জন এগিয়ে গেলাম তখন দেখলাম সামনে পড়ে থাকা কোচ থেকে মানুষ সাহায্যের জন্য আর্তনাদ করছে। তখনো আমি ভাবছি আমাদের ট্রেনের কিছু হয়নি, যশোবন্তপুর এক্সপ্রেসে  দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে। তখনই আমরা পুলিশ, ইমার্জেন্সি সার্ভিসে ফোন করি। অসুস্থ মানুষদের জল দিলাম, রেলওয়ে বেডসিট ছিড়ে ব্যান্ডেজ বানিয়ে কিছুজনের প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসাও করলাম। তখন দেখতে পেলাম অনেক এম্বুলেন্স আছে কিন্তু আমাদের দিকে না এসে সামনের দিকে চলে যাচ্ছে। তখন ভাবলাম আমাদের এখানে অ্যাক্সিডেন্ট হয়েছে তো  ওখানে কেন যাচ্ছে? তখন আমি আরো কয়েকজনকে নিয়ে সামনের দিকে এগোলাম তখন যা দেখলাম করোমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেসের সামনের কোচগুলির অবস্থা আরো ভয়ংকর। করোমন্ডলের ইঞ্জিন তিন থেকে চার তলা বাড়ির সমান উঁচুতে মালগাড়ির উপর উঠে গিয়েছে। রেললাইন উপড়ে গিয়েছিল, ফিসপ্লেট প্রায় ৪০ থেকে ৫০কিলোমিটার দূরে উড়ে গিয়ে পড়েছে, কিছু মৃতদেহও দুর্ঘটনার স্থল থেকে বেশ কিছুটা দূরে ছিটকে পড়েছিল। রেল আধিকারিকের সঙ্গে কথা বলে জানতে পারলাম রিসেন্ট রেনোভেট হয়েছিল এই ট্র্যাকটি এবং কোচগুলি ছিল অত্যাধুনিক এল এইচ বি কোচ, তাও ঘটনার এত ভয়াবহতা তার কারণ তদন্তের পরই জানা যাবে। ছোট ছোট বাচ্চা তার বাবা মাকে খুঁজে বেড়াচ্ছে, গোটা পরিবারের লোকজন চারিদিকে ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে পড়ে রয়েছে। কারোর হাত, কারোর পা কেটে গিয়েছে, তো কারোর আবার শুধু মাথা দেখা যাচ্ছে।  একটি পনেরো বছরের ছেলেকে দেখলাম তার বাবার হাত কেটে গিয়েছে বলে তাকে চিকিৎসার জন্য নিয়ে যাচ্ছে কিন্তু তার নিজেরই মাথা ফেটে গিয়েছে। আমি তিন ঘন্টার মত ছিলাম  দুর্ঘটনার স্থলে আমি তখনই প্রায় ৩০০টি মৃতদেহ দেখেছি। বালেশ্বর থেকে কটক, ভুবনেশ্বর ,ভদ্রক অফিস ফেরত লোক উঠে পড়ে বাড়ির উদ্দেশ্যে।"

যশোবন্তপুর এক্সপ্রেসে ছিলেন ভিন রাজ্যে কাজ করতে যাওয়া পরিযায়ী শ্রমিক শেখ পল্টু। তার গ্রামের আরো দশটি ছেলে তার সঙ্গে বেঁচে ফিরে এসেছে। তিনি জানিয়েছেন "আমাদের বগি এক তালগাছ সমান উঁচুতে উঠে যায় এবং নয়নজুলিতে  গিয়ে পড়ে। নিজেরাই জানালা ভেঙে মৃতদেহের উপর দিয়ে বেরিয়ে আসি। পুলিশ ও উদ্ধার বাহিনীর কারোর সাহায্য পায়নি।"

 বাঁকুড়া জেলার বাসিন্দা বিদ্যুৎ পাল ও সুজন বাউরী, করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেসে করে ভিন রাজ্যে কাজে যাচ্ছিলেন। তাদের বাড়ির লোকেরা জানিয়েছেন "আমাদের ছেলেদের আঘাত লেগেছে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসার পর ওআরএস ও দুটো বিস্কুট এবং জলের বোতল দিয়েছিল। রাতে  কথা হয়েছিল তারা এখন ভালো আছে কিন্তু বাড়ির ছেলে বাড়ি এখনো না ফেরায় উৎকণ্ঠায় দিন কাটছে আমাদের"।

 যশবন্তপুর এক্সপ্রেসের ৬ নম্বর কামরায় ছিলেন খাদিজা শেখ, তিনি জানিয়েছিলেন "বাস হঠাৎ দাঁড়িয়ে গেলে যেমন অনুভূতি হয় ঠিক সেরকম অনুভুতি হয়েছিল। তারপর বাইরে বেরিয়ে এসে দেখেছিলাম আমাদের ট্রেনের এক থেকে চার নম্বর বগি লাইনচ্যুত হয়ে গিয়েছিল।"

কলকাতা টালিগঞ্জের একদম্পতি  চিত্তরঞ্জন বাঘা ও তার স্ত্রী পূর্ণিমা রাউত বাঘা তাদের মেয়ের কাছে চেন্নাইতে  যাচ্ছিলেন করমন্ডল এক্সপ্রেসে করে।  তিনি জানিয়েছেন "ওই সময় বিটু কামরায় ছিলাম, তাই আঘাত কিছুটা কম লেগেছে, কথা বলতে পারছি কিন্তু আমার স্ত্রী বিফাইভে ছিলো। 

উনি মাথায় চোট পেয়েছেন। প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা করিয়ে অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করে ফিরে আসি কলকাতায় এবং অ্যাপেলো হসপিটালে চিকিৎসাধীন  এখনো কথা বলার মত অবস্থায় নেই।"

On this day, we can appreciate how radio has been used as an instrument of peace, cooperation and understanding between people around the world.

The aim of celebrating this international event is to recognise the importance that radio has played in bringing communities together and promoting a peaceful co-existence.

From broadcasting messages of peace to facilitating conversations between communities in conflict, radio has had a positive effect on our society. It has allowed us to connect with each other regardless of cultural differences and language barriers. Let us celebrate World Radio Day 2023 by reflecting on the power of radio to bring people together in times of conflict and cultivate an understanding between people from different backgrounds.

Since the digital media era started, radio has been struggling to maintain its position in the market. Despite being one of the oldest and most widely used mediums of communication, it is getting overshadowed by more modern technologies such as streaming services and podcasts.

On World Radio Day 2023, we should take a moment to reflect on how radio has evolved over the past two decades. From traditional radio broadcasts to online streaming services and podcasts, radio has remained an integral part of our lives.

For the next generation, the power of radio lies in its ability to bring people together. We can use it to form connections that transcend geographical boundaries and spread important messages across generations. We can also use it to tell our stories and cultivate understanding between different cultures.

World Radio Day is an excellent occasion to recognize the power of radio as a medium for entertainment, education and communication.Radio still provides us with a wide variety of content that we cannot get from any other sources. It also helps in bridging cultural divides and providing communities with access to information from all over the world. Therefore, it is safe to say that even though its importance may have diminished compared to past decades, it still plays a significant role in our lives today

চিরবিদায়ের দিনেও উঠে এল কাব্যে উপেক্ষিতদের কথা

অবশেষে তিনি বিদায় নিলেন। প্রত্যাশিতভাবেই, ৮২ বছর বয়সে। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে কোলন ক্যানসারে ভুগছিলেন। ফুটবল পৃথিবীর প্রত্যেকটি মানুষ তার জন্য প্রতিটি দিন প্রার্থনায় বসেও,  মনে মনে হয়ত ছিল তার শেষ নিঃশ্বাসের অপেক্ষায়। গোটা ব্রাজিল আজ পেলে-ময়! 'অল রোডস লিড টু স্যান্টোস'-সেই বিখ্যাত ক্লাবের স্টেডিয়ামে যাচ্ছে মানুষ। তাকে একবার শেষ দেখার জন্য। সারাজীবন যে ক্লাবের মাঠ ছিল তার সঙ্গী। মারিও জাগালোর মত তার ফুটবলজীবনের সতীর্থরা, জিকো, রোনাল্ডিনহো, লিওনেল মেসি, ক্রিশ্চিয়ানো রোনাল্ডো, কিলিয়ান এমব্যাপের মত তার পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের কিংবদন্তিরা-প্রত্যেকের শেষ শ্রদ্ধায় তিনি সর্বোত্তম!

পেলের ফুটবল পরিসংখ্যান আজ ক্লিশে হয়ে গিয়েছে। তার ফুটবল দক্ষতার কথাও লিখতে লিখতে আজ ক্লিশে হয়ে গিয়েছে। সুর্যের আলোর মত তা গনগনে। বিশ্বফুটবলের ইতিহাস তার সামনে নির্দ্বিধায় মাথা নুইয়েছে। তবু, পেলের চিরবিদায়ের দিনেও ব্রাজিলের অন্যতম সেরা পরিসংখ্যানবিদ এমিলিও কাস্তানোর লেখায় উঠে এল, মানুষ পেলে কিন্তু ফুটবলার পেলের উচ্চতায় পৌঁছতে পারেননি!

সাল ১৯৭০, বিশ্বকাপ জয়ের পর সতীর্থদের কাঁধে চেপে ফুটবল জগতের ব্ল্যাকপার্ল পেলে 

পেলের করা গোলসংখ্যা আসলে ১২৮৩ নয়, ৭৫৭টি! কিন্তু সেটাও মাত্র ৮১২টি ম্যাচে! অবিশ্বাস্য স্ট্রাইক রেটে। কাস্তানোর পরিসংখ্যান বলছে, পেলের ৫২৬টি গোল এসেছে প্রদর্শনী ম্যাচ থেকে। এই বিষয়টির চেয়েও কাস্তানোর পরিসংখ্যানে উঠে এসেছে আরও একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য। 

ব্রাজিলের এক ম্যাগাজিনে এই বর্ষীয়ান পরিসংখ্যানবিদের প্রশ্ন, পেলের ঐতিহাসিক সাফল্য তো তার একার চেষ্টায় আসেনি। সঙ্গে ছিলেন তার অবিস্মরণীয় সতীর্থরা। তাদের কতজনের কথা তিনি মনে রেখেছিলেন পরবর্তীকালে? একবার তার দেখা সেরা ১২৫জন ফুটবলারের তালিকা তৈরি করেছিলেন পেলে। কিন্তু বিস্ময়করভাবে সেই তালিকা থেকে বাদ গ্যারিঞ্চা, ভাভা এবং ডিডি! আরও আছে, সেই তালিকা থেকে বাদ পড়েছিলেন গারসন, জোয়ারজিনহো, জিটো, গিলমার এবং জাগালোরও নাম! এরা কারা? পেলের সাড়ে সাতশো আন্তর্জাতিক গোলের প্রায় প্রত্যেক গোলে যাদের কারও না কারও অবদান ছিল! যেমন গারসন। কাস্তানোর পরিসংখ্যানে দেখা যাচ্ছে, পেলেকে হাজারের বেশি গোলের পাস দিয়েছেন এই ব্রাজিলীয় মিডফিল্ডার! গারসন বলেওছিলেন সাক্ষাৎকারে, "আমি পাস দেওয়ার জন্যই খেলাটা শিখেছি, গোল করার জন্য জন্য নয়।" সেই মানুষটাকে পরবর্তীকালে ভুলে গেলেন ফুটবল সম্রাট!

তাছাড়া পেলে তো তিনটে বিশ্বকাপ খেলেননি! আসলে দুটো বিশ্বকাপে ছিল তার চোখে পড়ার মত উপস্থিতি! ১৯৬২-র বিশ্বকাপে তিনি মাঠে ছিলেন মাত্র দুটো ম্যাচে! ব্রাজিলের সেই বিশ্বকাপ জয়ের আসল নায়ক কে? গ্যারিঞ্চা! যাকে পেলেরও ওপরে বসিয়েছিলেন ফুটবল বিশ্বের বহু বিশেষজ্ঞ। ১৯৬২-তে-ই গ্যারিঞ্চা পেয়েছেন ব্যালন-ডি-ওর! তার আগে ফিফা-র সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠদের তালিকায় গ্যারিঞ্চার ঢুকে পড়া। অথচ, পেলের ১২৫ জন পছন্দের ফুটবলারের তালিকায়ও নেই গ্যারিঞ্চা! 

উশৃঙ্খল জীবন যে সময় তাকে অপরিসীম দারিদ্র্যে পৌঁছে দিয়েছে তখন কোথায় ফুটবল সম্রাট! আর লিওনেল মেসি? সেই একই ব্যালন-ডি-ওর হাতে নিয়ে ট্রফিটা উৎসর্গ করছেন তার বার্সেলোনার সতীর্থ জাভি-কে! যার পা থেকে বেরনো ঠিকানা-লেখা পাসেই ক্লাবের জার্সিতে মেসির অধিকাংশ গোল! অথচ, পেলের তালিকায় গারসনের নামই নেই! এমিলিও কাস্তানোর পর্যবেক্ষণ প্রবল সমালোচনার মুখে পড়তে পারে। কিন্তু চাঁদকে দেখতে হলে তার কলঙ্কগুলোকেও দেখতে হবে! চোখ বুঁজে থাকার উপায় নেই!

On the successful 6th year completion of our digital magazine, bongjournal.com, we have arranged a discussion at the deck of Bong Voyage Venture on 16th December.

I started bongjournal all alone with single support of  Pratayay Sur. When I looked back I really get surprised that how these all happened. It was really not easy for both of us to carry on with this. It really surprise me that how I balance my motherhood as well as my journey with my journalism. Gone through lots of upheavals. Atlast lots of patience and hard works speaks. Bongjournal slowly paved the way for Qtvlive and many more new projects.On the 6th Birthday of bongjournal sharing few moments with whole team and guests who all attended bongjournal's birthday gathering at the deck of Bongvoyage

এক অনামি সাংবাদিকের কথা

এত ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ কাজ কে করতে বলেছে? নিউজ চ্যানেলগুলোর কি আক্কেল বাবা ! জুনিয়র সাংবাদিকদের এভাবে কেউ প্রবল ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের মধ্যেই ঠেলে দেয়? পেটের দায়ে বাধ্য হয়ে বেচারাদের ছুটতে হচ্ছে। ইয়াস আছড়ে পড়ার পর থেকেই এই ধরনের উক্তি ঘুরপাক খাচ্ছে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়াতে। সাধারণ মানুষ, তাদের আর কতটুকুই বা ধারণা এই মিডিয়া হাউসগুলো সম্পর্কে। সত্যি তো। চিকিৎসা জগতের হাল হকিকত না জেনেই আমরা অনেক সময়  চিকিৎসক বা  সাস্থর্মীদের অহেতুক হেনস্থা করে ফেলি। কেই বা আর জনে জনে সাধারণ মানুষকে বোঝাতে যায়।  এই রকম সাত পাঁচ ভেবেই আর কোনো উত্তর দেবার প্রয়োজন মনে করিনি।

কিন্তু চোখ আটকে গেলো  বর্তমানের এক স্বনামধন্য সাহিত্যিকের এই বিষয় কমেন্টস দেখে।  ওনার মতে প্রতিযোগিতায়ে টিকে থাকতে জুনিয়র দের বাধ্য করা হচ্ছে জীবন বিপন্ন করে এই দুর্ভোগ কোনো মাথায় নিয়ে রিপোর্টিং করছে। পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ কে জানতে চেয়েছেন? মানুষ হিসেবে আপনার এমন উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করাটাই স্বাভাবিক। সেই প্রসঙ্গ টেনেই বলছি, সত্যিই কি প্রতিযোগীতা। আমি এক অনামি ক্ষুদ্র সাংবাদিক হিসেবেই বলছি। প্রতিযোগিতা নিশ্চয়ই রয়েছ কিন্তু সেই প্রতিযোগিতায় কোথাও কিন্তু জোর খাটানোর বিষয়ে নেই। এই সংবাদ জগতে পা দেবার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই কিন্তু গণতন্ত্রের চতুর্থ স্তম্ভের ধ্বজা ওড়াতে আসা সেই ছেলে বা মেয়েটি জেনে যায় যে এই পেশার সঙ্গে কোনোদিন আপোষ করা যায়না। প্রথমে উপভোগ তারপর নেশা হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। 

২০১১ , মনে আছে, তখন আমি নিউজ বাংলা খবরের কাগজে সাংবাদিক হয়ে সদ্য কাজ শুরু করেছি। সারা বছরে মাত্র চারটি পাবলিক হলিডে বরাদ্দ আমাদের প্রিন্ট মিডিয়ার কর্মীদের জন্য। সপ্তাহে একটি করে week off। জুনিয়রদের জন্য সেটিও থাকতনা অনেক সময়। পুজো এলো, যথারীতি কোনো ছুটি নেই আমাদের। আমাদের চিফ রিপোর্টার দায়িত্ব ভাগ করে দিলেন যে কে কোন আঙ্গেল থেকে খবর করবো। আমার দায়িত্ব ছিল কোন পুজোতে কত ভিড় তা জানা এবং জেলাগুলো থেকে পুজোর হালহকিকত। তখন আমরা যারা সদ্য তারুণ্যের সিড়িতে দাঁড়িয়ে রয়েছি তাদের জন্য বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে প্যান্ডেল hopping বা পাড়ার পুজোর জন্য এক আমোঘ টান থাকাটাই স্বাভাবিক। কিন্তু ওই যে বললাম উপভোগ যে কখন নেশায় পরিণত হয়েছে বুঝিনি। অষ্টমীর রাত আটটা তখন। নিউজ বাংলার সম্পাদক অনুপ ধর বলে দিয়েছিলেন যে পুজোর দিনে যেন জুনিয়রদের বিকেল বিকেল ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়। অবশেষে  আমি, আর এক সহকর্মী শাবানা আর শুভ্র অর্থাৎ এখনকার এই সময়  ও Times of india  সংবাদপত্রের ফটো জার্নালিস্ট শুভ্রদীপ রায় যখন বেশ কয়েকটা  পুজো সম্পর্কিত স্টোরি নিয়ে অফিসে ঢুকলাম তখনই আমাদের Joint editor আমাদের দেখে লাফিয়ে উঠে বললেন  ‘একি এরা এখানে কি করছে। আজ তো পুজো। তোমাদের কি বাড়ি যেতেও ইচ্ছে করছেনা ?’ পাশ থেকে আর এক সিনিয়র রিপোর্টার আমাদের joint editor কে বলে উঠলেন ‘ বুঝছনা কোনো। এই তো ওদের নেশার শুরু”।

কোন গহন অন্ধকারে গিয়ে কোন আলোর সন্ধান পাওয়া যায় এটাই এক সাংবাদিকের কাছে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। তা সে যা বলছিলাম। আবার ফিরে যাই সেই লেখিকার কথায়। ওনার লেখার আমি কদর করি। দু একটি বইও পড়ার সুযোগ হয়েছে। কলমে ওনার আগুন রয়েছে। কল্পনা ও বাস্তবের মিশেলে নানান উপন্যাস ও গল্প উনি পাঠকদের উপহার দিয়েছেন। ওনার সঙ্গে ফোনেও দু একবার কথা হয়েছে। Quarantimetv Live চ্যানেলেও উনি আমাদের এক আলোচনা সভার নিমন্ত্রণ গ্রহণ করেছিলেন। সেই সুবাদে জানি যে ওনার লেখাকেও বহুবার কাঠগড়ার সম্মুখীন হতে হয়েছে। জয়ী হয়েছেন সেটাও ঠিক। এরাজ্যে লেখকদের অর্থনৈতিক দিকটা কতখানি চেপে রাখা হয় তাও অনেকের অজানা নয়। সে যাই হোক আমার বলার বিষয়ে হলো উনি নিশ্চয়ই তাতে লেখা ছেড়ে দেননি? বা কারোর সঙ্গে প্রতিযোগিতায়ে সামিল হতে লিখছেন কি? লেখক বা লেখিকার মানসপট দিয়েই সাধারণ পাঠকরা সামাজিক প্রেক্ষাপটের ছবি দেখতে পান। এবার সাংবাদিকদের নিয়ে ট্রোল বা উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ নিয়ে লেখাটা আমার মূল উদ্দেশ্য নয়। আমি এক অতি সাদামাটা সাংবাদিক। বেশ কিছু সময় এই সাংবাদিকতার জীবনকে সামনাসামনি দেখেছি বা দেখছি। তা থেকেই কিছু টুকরো অভিজ্ঞতাকে তুলে ধরাটাই উদ্দেশ্য। 

মানুষের জানার আধিকার এবং গণমাধ্যমের দ্বারা সঠিক তথ্যের মাধ্যমে সমাজকে সচেতন করার দায়বদ্ধতা থেকেই কিন্তু প্রতিনিয়ত কাজ করছেন সাংবাদিকরা। সাধারণ মানুষের চাওয়া পাওয়া ও আকাঙ্খা নিয়ে সংবাদ পেশ করাটাই একমাত্র কাম্য এই মহান পেশার। সেখানে লক্ষভ্রষ্ট হলে প্রশ্ন উঠবেই। তবুও মানুষ কিন্তু এই গণমাধ্যমেই বিশ্বাসি। 

একটি ঘটনা বলি। ২০১১ সাল। হঠাৎই জানতে পারলাম একটি নামকরা Open University তে কোনো এক ডিপার্টমেন্ট- এর (এখন আর মনে নেই কোন ডিপার্টমেন্ট)  রেজাল্ট আউট নিয়ে ব্যাপক ঝামেলা চলছে। বিক্ষোভ শুরু হয়েছে। আমি আর পার্থদা অর্থাৎ এখনকার আর এক অতিপিরিচিত লেখক পার্থসারথী গুহ গেলাম সেখানে। দেখলাম বেশ ভিড়। কিছু ছাত্র ভেতরে ঢুকে বিক্ষোভ দেখাচ্ছে। কিছু পুলিশ বাহিনী রয়েছে। অন্য কয়েকটি চ্যানেলের সাংবাদিকরাও রয়েছেন। আমাদের দেখেই হন্তদন্ত হয়ে এগিয়ে এলেন এক ছাত্র। তার কাছে বিষয় বস্তু শুনে বোঝা গেল গোলমাল করেছে ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রশাসন বিভাগ অথচ তারা ছাত্রদের সঙ্গে কথা বলতেও নারাজ। এদিকে পুলিশ রয়েছে। সাংবাদিকরাও কোনোভাবে পৌঁছতে পারছেনা প্রশাসনের কাছে। এবার সেই ছাত্রটি হঠাৎই আমার সামনে হাত জোড় করে মিনতি করল। দিদি পারলে আপনারাই পারেন এই বিষয়টি সামনে আনতে। আপনাদের ছাড়া এই সমস্যা আর কাকেই বা বলবো। ব্যাস। এতখানি যখন মানুষ ভরসা করছে তখন তো আর কয়েকটা বাইট নিয়ে ফিরে আসা যায়না।

অবশেষে কয়েকজন ছাত্রদের কথা বলতে ডাকল কতৃপক্ষ। অথচ পুলিশ সাংবাদিকদের আটকাচ্ছে। অথচ আমারও চাই সঠিক খবরটা। তখন বয়েস অল্প হবার কারণে অবশেষে ছাত্রী পরিচয় দিয়ে ঢুকতে পারলাম ভেতরে। পরেরদিন খবরটি বেরোনোর পর ছাত্ররা অফিসে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে বললেন। অন্তত এবার কিছুটা সমস্যা মিটবে। পরে অবশ্য এই বিষয়টি নিয়ে অন্য এক সাংবাদিক এগিয়েছিলেন। সাংবাদিকরা সমাজের রূপকার কিনা জানিনা তবে মানুষের স্বার্থে এগিয়ে যেতে কোনো প্রতিযোগিতার প্রয়োজন নেই।

তবে সময়ের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে সাংবাদিকতার definition বদলেছে। মানুষের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিরও বদল ঘটেছে।
